Online Learning Platforms
The following online platforms provide a range of interactive learning resources that students may use to extend their learning at home. It is important that students use their provided username and passwords to access these services to ensure teachers are able to monitor their progress. Some platforms also allow parents to set up accounts too so they may also track student’s progress.
To go straight to the login page of each platform, please use the shortcuts at the top of this page.
Office 365
At Excellence Girls Academy, we use Microsoft’s Office 365 Education platform to enable all students to have access to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and more, in both the classroom and at home, meaning any work they start in either locations can be continued wherever they are. The platform also enables safe and secure communication and sharing of resources between staff and students. Click to read Office 365: Guidance for parents and guardians.
Seneca
Seneca provides free virtual learning for the majority of subjects and is designed to help students remember topics better whilst also being fun to use. Use this link to access our school’s page which includes all relevant courses for our students. Many teachers have set up classes so students should use their login details to access their class content.
Bedrock Learning
Bedrock Learning is an online platform which the school has subscribed to so all students can login, both at school and at home, and carry out individualised vocabulary learning. Parents can also set up an account to monitor their progress. Read more here
Dr Frost Maths
Dr Frost Maths is a free online learning platform for maths teaching and learning resources, videos and a bank of exam questions.
NumBots
NumBots is a highly engaging platform for improving understanding, recall and fluency in mental addition and subtraction, so that they move from counting to calculating. Students can access this by using their same login details as TT Rockstars.
Start Careers
As part of our careers provision, students from year 7 to 11 have access to Start – a comprehensive digital platform which includes structured and progressive modules that can be completed independently and cater for all students, helping them to make more informed decisions about future study and career options at the right time and in good time. Safeguarding and online safety
Through independent learning, we aim to maximise the educational benefit and fulfil our obligation of providing access to quality online resources to children as part of their lifelong learning experience, whilst adopting a safe culture and minimising any associated risks.
All of the online learning platforms and resources listed on this page have been vetted and approved by the Safeguarding team to ensure their suitability. It is especially important for parents and carers to be aware of what their children are being asked to do online, including the sites they will asked to access and be clear who from the school (if anyone) their child is going to be interacting with online.
Parents and carers may choose to supplement the school online offer with support from online companies and in some cases individual tutors. We cannot emphasise enough the importance of securing online support from a reputable organisation/individual who can provide evidence that they are safe and can be trusted to have access to children.
Both staff and students have regular training on online safety and cyberbulling and are reminded that a ‘classroom standard’ of behaviour is expected from all participants during any remote teaching. All staff and student activity on the online learning platforms and services that the school has subscribed to are monitored by the Headteacher and IT manager and both staff and students are aware that any inappropriate usage of these or any other website, will be dealt with as per our usual behaviour policy or staff disciplinary policy respectively.
All staff, students and parents/carers should follow the usual safeguarding procedures as outlined in our safeguarding policy – any safeguarding concerns should be forwarded to the DSL and Headteacher, Samia Haroon, or the Chair of Governors, Mohammed Ummar Azam, who is also the Lead Governor for Safeguarding. They can be contacted via the following contact details:
