In line with our mission for excellence in character and the community, we decided one of our goals this year is to raise over £1,000 for charitable causes insha’Allah – an ambitious target for a small school! We have begun by participating in three recent national charity events.
Students and staff were invited to wear something blue on 20th September in support of Jeans for Genes Day, which raises money for children in the UK affected by Genetic Disorders.
Students and staff were then invited to wear something red on 18th October to take a stand against racism as part of ‘Show Racism the Red Card – Wear Red’ Day, which raises money towards anti-racism education for young people and adults across the UK to challenge racism in society.
We also took part in this year’s Children In Need on 22nd November, raising funds for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. Students and staff were encouraged to wear something bright and colourful to match Pudsey for this great cause!
Alhamdulillah, collectively, we raised over £60 for these important causes which we hope will go some way towards making a real difference to people’s lives.
Our school council will be planning the next fundraising activities for the following term, in which we hope to raise funds for some important causes within our local community. We will keep you updated!
